An agreement has been signed between the University of Luxembourg and William and Mary School of Law in Virginia, USA.

The objective of this agreement is to establish a flexible framework for academic collaboration in the area of law, including faculty and student exchanges, between the University of Luxemburg and William and Mary School of Law, to the end that the academic programs and activities for faculty and students of both institutions will be enriched.

The agreement entails, amongst others, the following clauses:

Either institution may request the other to make a faculty member available as a short term visitor for the purpose of giving guest lectures or teaching an intensive course. Both institutions will consider requests from faculty members of the other institution who desire to undertake research or to spend time in residence during sabbaticals and other leave periods. These visits will be discussed and agreed to on a case-by-case basis, and the associated costs of such visits will be borne by the budget of the related research project or other funds available to the visiting faculty member.

The William and Mary School of Law and the University of Luxembourg also contemplate an exchange of students. These students will visit the other institution for one semester. William and Mary students will be J.D. (Juris Doctor) candidates who have completed their first or second year of studies, and University of Luxembourg students will be undergraduate (Bachelor) students in their fifth semester of studies, or graduate (Master) students who are not in their last semester.
