On May 14th, an agreement was signed in Luxemburg between the University of Luxemburg and the State Medical Academy of Omsk.
The aim of the agreement is to further cooperation in research, education, technology transfer and administration in the areas of neurophysiology (pain research), psycho-oncology, ethical issues within the field of medicine, and, moreover-language and linguistic studies. A special focus is given on the exchange of students on bachelor, master or doctoral level and of researchers. The researchers involved from the University of Luxemburg are so far: Fernand Anton: pain, Gilles Michaux: pain and psycho-oncology, Martine Hoffmann:oncology, Sabine Erhart:languages and ethno-linguistics. One major long term goal of these endeavours will be to foster collaborative training and research in a variety of biomedial disciplines and hence to contribute to the optimization of treatment possibilities for patients suffering from severe diseases.
